Lakers get permission to interview Kenny Atkinson for coaching job
The Los Angeles Lakers have received permission to interview Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson for their head coaching vacancy.
Atkinson, who is in his first season as an assistant with the Warriors, previously spent three-plus years as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. He led the team during its recent rebuild where they went 118-190 including a playoff appearance in the 2018-19 season.
The Lakers have cast a wide net in their coaching search and have already spoken with former Warriors coach Mark Jackson, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, former Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts and Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin to be their next head coach
Atkinson has also interviewed with the Charlotte Hornets for their head coach opening.
