Mike Conley wins NBA's Sportsmanship award for record fourth time

On Friday, the NBA announced that Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Mike Conley was the 2022-23 Sportsmanship award winner.

This award honors a player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court. This is Conley's fourth time winning this award, which is the most in NBA history.

Conley beat out fellow finalists Houston Rockets center Boban Marjanovic, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes and New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson to win the award.

Conley received 96 first-place votes and 2,739 total voting points, while runner-up Marjanovic received 91 first-place votes but only 2,665 total voting points.

Each NBA team nominated one of its players for the Sportsmanship award. From the list of 30 team nominees, a panel of league executives selected one finalist from each of the NBA’s six divisions.

Current NBA players selected the winner from the list of six finalists, with nearly 400 players submitting their votes through confidential balloting conducted by the league office.
