Shams Charania joins ESPN as its senior NBA insider

NBA reporter and insider Shams Charania has joined ESPN as the company’s Senior NBA insider.

Charania announced the news himself in his X account.

The former ‘The Athletic’ Senior NBA insider has made the switch to the sports giant following the departure of esteemed NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, who retired from the news and journalism industry to be the General Manager of his alma mater St. Bonaventure.

Charania, 30, has built a solid career as one of the most trusted NBA sources for insider info and news, and ESPN snags probably the biggest fish out there for the perfect Woj replacement.

There were sources that ESPN was eyeing certain NBA reporters such as Brian Windhorst, Chris Haynes, Jake Fischer, and Tim Bontemps, but have now ultimately ended with Charania – as his contract with The Athletic and Stadium expired over the summer.
