Team USA Women’s take care of Nigeria, advance to Olympics semis

The USA Women’s National Basketball dominated for three quarters before holding off a furious 4th quarter run by Nigeria, 88-74, at the Bercy Arena in Paris, France and advancing to the Paris 2024 Olympics semifinals.

The Americans moved one step closer to attaining their coveted 8th straight gold medal in the games with a huge game played on both ends of the floor. Team USA displayed a masterclass on both offense and defense anchored by their best players as well as the supporting players chipping in with their parts as well. 

A’Ja Wilson was her usual dominant self for Team USA with a great performance of 20 points on 9/11 shooting with 11 rebounds. Tandem Breanna Stewart added 13 points while Wilson’s teammate with the Las Vegas Aces Jackie Young had a great second straight game after starting yet again by scoring 15 points.

The USA remains undefeated in the quarter-finals at the Olympics, winning their eight game in this phase: however, this was their closest win at the quarter-finals of the Olympics, with their seven previous games being all won by 15 or more points.

Team USA will now face Australia in the semifinals after the Opals defeated Serbia in the other semis matchup. France and Belgium will also do their honors on the other side of the bracket for the right to fight for gold.
