Chet Holmgren, widely considered to be the top-ranked player in the 2021 high school class, has committed to play college ball at Gonzaga.
Here's what draft analyst Matt Babcock of BasketballNews.com has to say about Holmgren:
"There have been some 7-footers in the past that have been referred to as 'unicorn-like.' However, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a prospect that deserves that description more so than Chet Holmgren. Standing over 7-feet tall with a 7-foot-6 wingspan, Holmgren does everything on the floor. He initiates the break, creates off the dribble, finishes at and above the rim, sets up his teammates, makes difficult shots from all over the court, and is an elite rim protector.
"Gonzaga had a terrific season this year and they are likely going to lose some of their key pieces to the NBA, but there is no better way to reload than by adding the No. 1 player in the country. Holmgren is very thin; he needs to add weight and physical strength. But even with that said, I consider him the clear-cut front runner to be the first pick in the 2022 NBA Draft."
