With the NBA All-Star game taking place on Sunday night, the league held media availability for each player participating on Sunday afternoon. One of the more interesting moments was during Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell's session, when he was asked about he and teammate Rudy Gobert being the last two picks in the All-Star Draft.
Kevin Durant selected Mitchell second-to-last, and LeBron James was given Gobert with the final selection. James then had interesting comments regarding why the Jazz players weren't highly sought after.
"There’s no slander to the Utah Jazz. You’ve got to understand, just like in video games growing up, we never played with Utah," James told the TNT crew during the draft. "As great as Karl Malone and John Stockton was, we would never pick those guys in video games."
On Sunday afternoon, Mitchell was able to respond to those comments.
Donovan Mitchell on LeBron James’ Utah comments during All-Star draft - “I don’t want to be rude but I really don’t care....people have been talking s*** about me for a while...we’re not doing this to seek the approval of him.”
