Donovan Mitchell was incensed at the late decision to scratch him from Sunday's playoff opener, and it deepened tensions with the team regarding his recovery from a right ankle sprain, sources told ESPN.

ANALYSIS: Multiple players noted their surprise that Mitchell was held out of Sunday's 112-109 loss in Game 1 of the first round series with Memphis. 

"I try to stay out of all of this, because it's just going to give me a headache," Gobert said. "Hopefully, he's good for next game. That's all I'm worried about."

According to the article, there is optimism around a Game 2 return. But Mitchell was not listed on the injury report Saturday or early Sunday before being ruled out by the team, so there is still fog surrounding his availability. Mitchell added a cryptic Tweet after the team's loss:
